Children’s Faith Development
Our children’s faith development and learning focuses on the following themes: social responsibility, loving community, UU history and identity, religious diversity, and ecological interdependence.
Each year in our religious education classes, elements of these themes are brought into focus. Our children also are encouraged to actively participate in our multi-generational church services by reading works, participating in Candles of Community, signaling service beginnings and endings on hand bells, or by passing the offertory baskets.
Our Children’s Faith Development Team is lead by Chelsea Dickerson, who oversees a rotational staff of up to 8 teachers who teach the lessons. GMUUC policy requires two security-cleared adults to work with our children at all times. All teachers have had recent criminal background checks by the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office.
Nursery care is available for newborn infants and up. Learn more about children’s worship and childcare at GMUUC.
We welcome you to visit and learn more about what is going on at our friendly, inclusive church! Our congregation welcomes children of all ages — we are a harmonious group and work together beautifully.
