How genuine and sincere are we in following the principles we espouse? Do we practice what we preach? Do our actions speak louder than our words? Or, as a quip in Reader’s Digest once said, “if we were on trial for being a Christian (for us, a UU) would there be enough evidence to convict us.” These are the type of questions raised in the New Testament book of James and, of course, many other places as well.
After graduating from seminary, Don served as a Presbyterian pastor for a few years. Most of his career, however, was spent in community service work, primarily as a United Way executive in several cities. Don and Becky Custis have been worshipping at GMUUC for the past couple of years. They live in Gainesville.
